Gamma Quadrant

The Gamma Quadrant is one of four sections of the Milky Way galaxy. The Dominion was the dominant political power in this area of space until the mid-24th century. The leaders of the Dominion, the Founders, initiated a war of aggression against the major powers from the Alpha Quadrant for perceived incursions into their territory. The Dominion ultimately lost the Dominion War and their power in the Gamma Quadrant was subsequently diminished.
The Idran system in the Gamma Quadrant is linked to the Bajoran system in the Alpha Quadrant by a stable wormhole created by a race of aliens known to the Bajorans as the Prophets.
