Gender: Female
Species: Soong Type Android
Affiliation: Starfleet

Family

Sisters: Morosi, Apate, Anaplekta (Orion)

Personality

While she was designed to imitate emotions, Keresa is still trying to discover who she really is. As a result, she is quite reserved and introspective, occasionally surprising herself with her emotional responses. While she may appear shy to some, she does not lack confidence and will readily assert herself. She has a curiosity about relationships, society and emotion and is not afraid to look to those around her for answers. Her dark past has not gone away and so, while most of what she does is part of her redemption, Keresa the remorseless assassin still hides in the shadows of her soul.

Delta Generation History

Keresa is a Delta generation, Soong type android. The Delta generation was the first of Starfleet’s efforts to fully recreate the successes of Dr. Noonian Soong’s work. Despite it’s success, however, the Delta generation was not without controversy. They were designed and built in the 2390s at the secret Nyx research facility on Galor IV with an emphasis on stealth and combat. The Deltas were intended to be spies, commandos and assassins; taking on the Federation’s enemies in lightning fast guerrilla actions without risking Starfleet lives.

Structure

Keresa’s skeleton is composed of a cortenide and duranium alloy to withstand extreme stress. This skeleton is actuated by the latest myomer servomechanisms, based on humanoid musculature but capable of much greater output. She is capable of withstanding directed energy weapons, such as phasers or disruptors, when on low settings.

Aesthetics

Keresa’s skin is made from bioplast that perfectly mimics the texture and appearance of human skin (variants that mimic other species do exist). Her coolant system is integrated into her skin making it warm to the touch like human skin. While Keresa was designed to appear human, other Deltas were manufactured to look like other species. In 2402, she decided that it was more honest to visibly distinguish herself from humans. To that end she gave her eyes a faint yellow glow.

Computation

Keresa’s real break through is her fully functional, positronic brain. She has an ultimate storage capacity of 85 petabytes and is capable of almost sixty trillion operations per second. Although she was never intended to be truly sentient, this is nevertheless the case.

Biography

Activation

Keresa, along with her “sisters”, Morosi and Apate, were activated in 2397. They were the first of over 20 Delta generation androids activated. While highly intelligent, they were not regarded as sentient. They were kept at the Nyx facility to undergo extensive testing to gauge their capabilities and make sure they would not repeat the failures of earlier generations.

Keresa’s first true mission was in 2398. Her task was to infiltrate an Orion slaving ring to learn more about their relationship with the Klingon Empire. In order to do this, she posed as a stranded tourist on Anchorage. It was not long before she was abducted by slavers, fitted with a restraining device and made ready for auction. During the auction, she used her internal duo-tronic uplink to hack the trading computer to deliberately rig it in favor of her target, Thelevik. Once in Thelevik’s service on his ship, she learned that he was meeting with Klingon Ambassador K’mpok. Once she informed her Starfleet handler, her mission was updated to kill K’mpok and implicate Thelevik in order to destroy relations between the Klingons and the Orions. While planning the assassination, Keresa began to feel sorry for the slaves she had met and wondered what would happen to them once she carried out her plan and the Klingons retaliated. Unbeknown to her, she was experiencing the beginnings of true sentience. Her new found sense of empathy did not prevent her from carrying out her plan. She danced for K’mpok as Thelevik slept off the blood wine they had been drinking. When she got close to him, she grabbed his throat and began to choke him. As the Klingon tried to pry open her vice like grip, she took his ‘’d'k tahg’’ and stabbed him. She then put the knife in Thelevik’s hand and left his ship in a stolen shuttle. When K’mpok’s aides discovered the scene, they attacked Thelevik and a fight broke out between the Klingons and the Orion guards, the commotion covered Keresa’s escape.

With her first mission a success, Keresa and her sisters were sent on a number of covert missions in the following months.

Delta Rebellion

By 2400, Keresa and a number of her sisters were beginning to show signs of sentience. Fearing the androids would look to the Federation to grant them the legal rights of organic species and in turn exposing the Nyx facility, Keresa and her sisters were all recalled to have their minds erased. Keresa and her sister, Anaplekta (who appeared to be an Orion) were waiting for a shuttle at Starbase 54 when Jaken “Jack” Lokyr began talking to them. Jack suspected their true nature and decided to invite himself on to their shuttle back to Galor IV. Jack was himself being followed by Ensign Arbol who had thought him acting suspiciously.

During the journey, Arbol and Jack learned about the Delta androids and the Nyx facility. When they arrived at Galor IV, Jack and Arbol were apprehended by Nyx’s security. Thanks to Keresa and Anaplekta, their sisters realised what was happening. Some of them decided to rebel while some remained loyal to their masters. The combat drew the attention of Galor IV’s more reputable Starfleet officers and the Federation media. With Jack and Arbol’s help, the Deltas that survived became Federation citizens.

Keresa was inspired by her research into her predecessor, Data, to join Starfleet. While she was a little more aware of social conventions than he was, she was still new to concepts such as friendship and socialising. However, despite a few awkward moments, she was a popular student. During her first year, Keresa was often mistaken for human, leading people to make assumptions about her. To remedy this, she decided to alter her eyes to emit a faint glow, which she colored yellow in honor of earlier Soong androids.
