History
Early Missions
=Begin
The USS Legacy was one of the many Sovereign-Class Starships created after the success of the prototype and flagship (USS Sovereign and USS Enterprise respectively) during the Dominion War, soon after the Battle of Ba'ku. The Legacy was soon commissioned as the 12th ship of the class. After the Dominion War, she would serve as a Deep Space Exploration Cruiser, participating in discovering new systems and species throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
War
In 2404, the USS Legacy is recalled from exploring the outer reaches of the Federation to be refitted and reassigned to support the Federation Colonies in the Hromi Sector. The Legacy was then sent to Starbase K-7, and was of the key vessels to stop the Gorn invasion of Sherman's Planet in 2405. Unfortunately, the Legacy was heavily damaged in the battle, and had to be towed back to K-7. Though the Legacy was repairable, it would take months and a vast amount of resources to repair the starship and build the parts needed. Starfleet was heavily considering decommissioning her.
New Lease on Life
Instead of decommissioning the Legacy, Starfleet decided to use the Legacy's damaged hulk as a testbed for its new class of Starship, the Project was called Project Rebirth, its purpose was to give was was left of the Legacy's hull new life was a new type of ship. Using parts from different starships that were yet to be assigned to a starship. The Legacy was rebuilt and refitted to one of the proposed subtypes for the Sovereign-Class. And, after a year of constant work. The Legacy was launched in 2406 as a faster, stronger, and better starship that what is was before.
ReBirth
The Refit
The Legacy's hull was a mix of the several different types of Starships along with a couple new pieces of its own. The new ship was called the Legacy-Type subclass of the Sovereign. Though the outside is a Kibash, the inside was unique and different from any other starship. Though originally it was a mess, with wires, panels, and other pieces of equipment lying all over the place, the Legacy was soon put put together to Starfleet's standard as the a system was soon put together for all the "incompatible" pieces to work in unison to make a new ship.
Testing
The Legacy's testing almost always done inside the Sol System. It's weapons training was done in Asteroid and Kepler belts against combat drones, where its ship to ship combat testing was done against the USS Aventine at both Mercury and the Mutara Nebula. (Both we're deemed perfect due to the extreme conditions of the of the Area.
Results
The Legacy's testing results went above what was expected, and was considered a huge success by the Starfleet Engineering Corps, especially considering the ship was a Kibash of several other starships that we're in service. After testing, 20 starships were planned to be made between being built and refitted. The plans for the class we're canceled after the discovery of more ore, better building techniques with sped up how ships we're repaired, and the introduction of several more "advanced" starship designs. Starfleet deemed the Legacy-Subtype to be insuffecient, and only after a year of being in production, only 4 other starships we're built as of 2408.
The First Year
The Cardassian Front
The Legacy served its second tour under the command of its previous first officer, Mari Shield. The Legacy first tour of duty was on the Cardassian front, since its full capability was not known. Much of its original weaponry from the tests was given to the prototype of the Imperial-Class, USS Imperial. Even with weak Type VI Weaponry, the Legacy showed itself to be an incredibly powerful and able ship, fighting alongside several famous ships including the Enterprise and Defiant. She single handedly defeated a True Way invasion of DS9, and was one of the ships who drove off the Klingons, in an attempt to either capture, or destroy Deep Space Nine, and possibly get the aid of the True Way, or Dominion.
Refit and Reassignment
After the major success in the Cardassian Front, the Legacy was put back on the front lines at K7, and was refitted with new systems, including holographic emitters on all decks, emergency ablative hull generators, Chroniton Torpedoes, Type X phasers (to the joy of the crew), and a prototype Red Matter Capacitor.
The 2nd Tour of Duty
The Legacy's now legendary luck seemed to have held. It continued to serve admirably in the face of danger, even better than before with its new equipment. When it came onto the battlefield, morale on the Federation side boomed, in fact, many people, even some Fleet Admirals, wanted the Legacy to temporarily replace the aging Enterprise-E as the Federation Flagship until a new one could be built, or the E could be refitted, though Capt. Shield and most of the designers disagreed saying "This is not a flagship, just a ship, doing what it does best."
Square One?
The Legacy continued to serve, until the 2nd Battle of Sherman's Planet, where it was again heavily damaged. Fortunately, the ship received minor casualties, even with much of the ship damaged. The Legacy's first year of service was considered to be a great success, but once again her fate was left in the hands of Starfleet.
The 2nd Year
ReReBirth
After a petition was made from the Legacy's crew to save her. Starfleet again hastily repaired the damaged damaged gaint, and in less than a month the Legacy was ready for active combat. Though with her captain dead and the other Senior Staff already reassigned to other ships, Starfleet had to get others to take their place.
The Refit
The Legacy was was refitted with new armor, new weapons, and new systems to make it even more advanced. With a history of extreme resilience, the Legacy was made into Starfleet's "Crash Test Ship." Many of the systems put in her were untested and possibly dangerous. Making her a possible time bomb.
The New Crew
The Legacy Commanding Officer was chosen to be Captain James Fury, the Officer who was in charge of her during her repair and refit. Starfleet chose him because of his knowledge of the ship, and his record of being a competent Officer during his service onboard the Queen Anne's Revenge. James soon
The Borg Front
Resistance
James once again returned to the Borg front in the Mutara Sector. The Legacy was in the front lines throughout its entire service. The Legacy was known to take on Borg Cubes single handed and win. With its advanced weaponry and shields, the Legacy was more than a mach for its Borg Adversaries. The Legacy also fought the Undine on many occasions, with odds stacked up against her, the Legacy survived some of the most fearsome foes the Federation has ever faced. The ship and crew received many awards during their service on the front, and proved herself to be one of the best in the fleet.
Breen Front
First Fight
The Legacy was recalled from the Borg Front to help in a developing Crisis between the Deferi people and the Breen. She went to the the Deferi Homeworld, Defera to offer any assistance be it diplomatic, Scientific, or Tactical. But Ambassador Surah told them that the Deferi did not need any help from the Federation. At that moment, the Breen began an invasion of the planet, the crew of the Legacy helped defend the planet. With the main Invasion Force defeated, James and his away team beamed up to the ship and managed to defeat the Breen Fleet, and protect Ambassador Surah's ship, the Jeska, at the same time.(Albeit with some minor damage caused by the Breen's energy draining torpedoes.) With the threat of invasion momentarily halted, the Deferi then formally asked for the Federation's help. The Legacy was then assigned to help the Deferi in their fight against the Breen. She was stationed at Outpost 3 to protect it from increasing Breen Raids. As thanks for their efforts, the Deferi gave the Legacy powerful Transphasic Cluster Torpedoes, which was stolen from the wreckage of a Breen Cruiser. The new Torpedoes were soon installed and tested, and are placed in the primary armament of the Legacy.
